Mississippi State’s 2011 basketball signing class added Roquez Johnson on Wednesday.
Johnson, a 6-foot-7 forward from Montgomery (Ala.) Carver, committed to MSU three weeks ago and gave his signature on the first day of the spring signing period. He averaged 16.0 points, 13.2 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game for Carver last season and was selected to play in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game.
He’s the fourth member of the 2011 class and the only one from out-of-state, joining Okolona’s D.J. Gardner, Meridian’s Rodney Hood and Jackson Callaway’s Deville Smith. State has room for one more scholarship player, but it’s not clear if coach Rick Stansbury will add another before the signing period ends May 18.
