ICC 21, East Central 14: Andy Wilson passed for one touchdown and ran for two more as the Indians (1-2) picked up their first victory of the season.
East Central held a 408=336 edge in total offense, led by QB Blake Mantherne, who passed for 157 yardsand rushed for 169 more.
“Our defense bent but never broke,” said first-year head coach Jon Williams, who started his coachng career at E.C. in 1996. “When we had our backs against the wall the guys dug deep to make the plays we needed to win.”
The Indians will host East Mississippi next Thursday.
Northwest 25, East Mississippi 19: The 11th-ranked Rangers (3-0), playing at Scooba, ended the home tea’s 15-game North Division winning streak.
Northwest had a pair of 100-yard rushers, Calvin Malone (22-106-1) and Jay Jones (18-105-1). Brent osborn passed for 138 yards and added a short TD run.
