Junior college players can start signing today

Today is the first day of the early signing period for junior college athletes, and Ole Miss is anticipating a big haul.
The Rebels are still awaiting word on Northeast defensive tackle Lavon Hooks, as are Mississippi State and Washington, but Ole Miss has four other players who are committed and expected to sign.
The list includes two from Hinds CC, wide receiver Quadarias Mireles and athlete Zach Witchett; and two from East Mississippi CC, wide receiver/defensive back Nick Brassell and defensive tackle Jarran Reed.
Brassell was a part of the Ole Miss roster in 2011 before grades forced him to attend East as a sophomore.
Mireles signed with Ole Miss out of Delray Beach, Fla., in 2010 but did not qualify.
MSU expects to sign two players today: receiver Jeremey Chappelle (Tyler, Texas) and safety Justin Cox (East Mississippi). Cox signed with MSU out of West Point High School two years ago.
Receiver Corey Smith (EMCC) will sign in February, because he’ll be a May graduate.
