King of the Hill Triathlon will press on despite heat

By NEMS Daily Journal

The annual King of the Hill Triathlon gets started at 8 a.m. Saturday in Tombigbee State Park and organizers will be mindful of the hot weather.
“The key will be to keep people hydrated,” said one of the organizers, Mark Bresee. “We’ll have plenty of medical personnel on hand.”
The race begins with a halfmile swim, then continues with
a 20-mile bike ride and 3.6-mile run. “We have about 110 signed
up now and expect about 140 out there,” Bresee said.
Many competitors will finish within two hours. Today’s forecast
temperature at 8 a.m. is 81, soaring to 92 by 10 a.m.
The weather conditions on Saturday may be similar.
