Mississippi State’s women will try to get back in the win column today with a trip to South Carolina. Tipoff at Colonial Life Arena is 1 p.m., and the game will be televised by the SEC Network.
The Lady Bulldogs (13-7, 3-4 SEC) had won two in a row before falling to Arkansas, 51-35, at home on Thursday. MSU shot only 25.5 percent from the floor in that game, and nobody scored in double figures.
Leading scorer Diamber Johnson was held to four points, dropping her season average to 17.2. The senior point guard is also averaging 4.1 assists per game.
South Carolina (16-5, 5-3) has won two in a row, over Vanderbilt and Ole Miss. The Lady Gamecocks are led by Markeshia Grant’s 10.1 points per game, and she’s the only player averaging double figures.
South Carolina gets it done with defense, allowing a league-low 47.8 points per game.
