STARKVILLE – Mississippi State’s women will open SEC play tonight when LSU visits Humphrey Coliseum for a 7 o’clock tipoff.
The Lady Bulldogs are 10-3 after splitting a pair of games at the Peppermill Holiday Classic in Reno, Nev., last week. They lost to Oklahoma State and then defeated Nevada.
Senior point guard Diamber Johnson continues to lead the way, averaging an SEC-leading 18.3 points per game. She had 18 versus Oklahoma State and 23 against Nevada.
Johnson is also averaging 4.6 assists per game.
MSU has held foes to 33.7 percent shooting, second only in the league to LSU (30.9 percent). The Lady Tigers, also 10-3, have won seven consecutive games, most recently an 83-44 win over Ole Miss in their league opener Sunday.
LaSondra Barrett, a preseason All-SEC pick, leads LSU with 11.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
