Mississippi State’s women try to break into the SEC win column today when they host Auburn at 7 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs are 8-8 overall and 0-4 in SEC play, having lost five straight total. Their last outing was a 72-60 setback at then-No. 19 Kentucky on Sunday.
MSU has averaged only 53.8 points in SEC play and is shooting 35.4 percent from the field.
Junior guard Di’Amber Johnson leads the team with 11.7 points per game, but she’s been up and down, scoring 20 against Kentucky after being held to 10 or less each of the previous three games.
Auburn (11-7, 4-1) is riding back-to-back wins over Ole Miss and LSU, and all four of its SEC wins have come by double digits. The Lady Tigers are led by sophomore Blanche Alverson, who’s averaging 11.9 points per game and was named SEC player of the week on Monday.
