Lady Indians stay in the hunt for North Division crown

The ICC Lady Indians (18-19, 10-2) picked up 10-1 and 14-8 wins over Northeast in a StrikeOut Cancer doubleheader on Thursday.

CeCee Austin and Anna Taylor both belted home runs and the Lady Indians rattled off 14 hits to help Laura Mitchell pick up the win in Game 1. Rachel Tally led the offensive attack with three hits, one going for a double. Austin, Kimmy Nicholson, Heather Whitworth, and Ashley Case all had two hits in the game.

Austin’s home run was her 10th of the season.

The Lady Indians’ bats stayed hot in the second game as they manufactured 14 runs on 16 hits to help Becca Rogers pick up the win in Game 2. Whitworth had three hits, one double. Austin and Nicholson each had three singles. Tally, Case, and Cyndal Cleveland each added a pair of hits while Lara Andrews added a double to the contest.

The Lady Indians remained tied with East Mississippi for the lead in the North Division.
