OXFORD – The Ole Miss women’s basketball team is back in action tonight, and fans will be admitted free with a non-perishable food item.
Tipoff against Mississippi Valley State is 7 p.m., and the food will be donated to the Oxford Food Pantry.
Ole Miss (6-3) is coming off an 85-51 win over Southeastern Louisiana last Saturday. Sophomore walk-on Maggie McFerrin, of Tupelo, had 11 points, shooting 3 for 8 from 3-point range in her first significant action. McFerrin played 29 minutes and also contributed two rebounds and two assists.
Valley (2-5) is led by sophomore guard De’Kisha Fondon with 8.0 points a game.
Shooting has been a struggle for the Devilettes, who are hitting just 32.6 percent from the floor, 26.8 percent from 3-point range and 54.8 percent from the free throw line.
Valley defeated Talladega College 68-60 its last time out.
Senior guard Kayla Melson leads Ole Miss with 15 points a game, while freshman point guard Valencia McFarland adds 13.3 points.
