CLINTON, Miss. – Tuesdae Rowland paced the Blue Mountain College to a second-place finish in the Mississippi College Invitational cross country meet here Friday – the highest finish in four-year-old BMC program.
The Lady Toppers finished second to West Florida in the 10-team Non-Division I division. Rowland, a junior from Ripley, was fifth in the field of 71 runners with a 6k time of 24:37.98.
In the men’s competition, BMC’s Austin Epting, a sophomore from Baldwyn, finished fifth in the 74-runner field with an 8k time of 26:56.65. The Toppers finished fifth in the 10-team Non-Division I division, also won by West Florida.
Magan Wilburn finished 13th in the women’s competition with a time of 25:45.47, followed by Ashlee Grisham (23rd) 27:05.11, Emma Baxter (25th) 27:17.05, Beth Goolsby (27th) 27:39.25, and Stephanie Dillard (28th) 27:41.06.
In the men’s competition, Nathan Young finished 16th overall with a time of 28:10.44, Richard Fiest (24th) 28:52.64, Hunter Flanagan (28th) 29:02.28, and Casey Bales (42nd) 31:24.81.
Monicah Jepkemboi of Southern-New Orleans won the women’s race in 24:09.08, and Eddie Pagan of West Florida captured the men’s crown in 26:19.99.
BMC’s next competition will be the TranSouth Athletic Conference Championship, Oct. 23 at Union University in Jackson, Tenn.
