Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning joins another exclusive pro football club on May 5 when he hosts NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
“I’m looking forward to it,” the former Ole Miss standout told NFL.com. “It’s something that’s been offered a few times and I’ve turned it down. But it seemed like the right time. I felt ready to do it and I’m excited about that opportunity.”
Manning will be the latest NFL standout to host the show, a group that includes Fran Tarkenton (1977), Joe Montana (1987), Walter Payton (1987), Tom Brady (2004) and Eli’s brother, Peyton (2007).
Eli and the rest of the Manning family made a brief cameo on that show.
“I’m a little nervous about it, but excited also. It should be a lot of fun,” Manning said in a statement. “It will take some work, but it should be something I’ll always remember.”
The younger Manning has plenty of experience in TV ads, many with his QB brother, who he also joined for the memorable “Football Cops” video to promote DirecTV in 2011.
