Louisville coach McDonnell suspended 3 games

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell has been suspended for three games by the NCAA for inappropriate conduct during a loss to St. John’s in the Big East tournament semifinals.

McDonnell was ejected in the middle of the sixth inning of the 5-3 loss last Saturday that knocked the Big East regular-season champions out of the tournament.

McDonnell used foul language during an argument and made contact with at least two umpires. He has apologized.

Assistant coaches Chris Lemonis and Roger Williams will be in charge of the team during the beginning of this weekend’s NCAA tournament. The Cardinals (48-12) will host Saint Louis on Friday night and play either Vanderbilt or Illinois State on Saturday.
