ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Louisville Cardinals have accepted an invitation to represent the Big East in the Beef ‘O’ Brady Bowl’s against Southern Mississippi.
The Dec. 21 game at Tropicana Field reunites a pair of familiar opponents.
Southern Miss accepted its bid last week and is representing Conference USA, the league Louisville played in before leaving for the Big East in 2005.
Louisville went 6-6 in its first season under former Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong, who accepted the Cardinals’ berth on Sunday. Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora is a former Florida offensive coordinator, although he and Strong did not work for the Gators at the same time.
Rutgers defeated Central Florida in last year’s game.
