MACJC tourney: ICC men break 100

FULTON – ICC opened the MACJC Tournament in impressive fashion Monday, defeating Southwest 103-91 at the Davis Event Center.

Six Indians scored in double figures with Alex Anderson leading the way with 26, Tyrone Wooten adding 19, Johnthan McGee 15, Lakee Westbrook 14, Tory Rice 12 and Austin Timms chipping in 10 points.

Rice recorded his ninth double-double of the season, collecting a game-high 12 rebounds for the Indians.

Twymond Howard scored 28 for Southwest.

ICC (15-9) moved into Wednesday’s semifinals while Southwest (12-12) saw its season end.

Jones and EMCC will face off at 3 p.m. while ICC will take on Gulf Coast at 8 in Wednesday’s semifinals.

There are four women’s games today, with ICCplaying Pearl River at 8.

Jones County 84, Coahoma 57: Jones (20-4) took care of Coahoma behind Johnny Zuppardo’s 24 points. Mark Haywood led the Tigers (9-15) with 17 points.

East Mississippi 73, Pearl River 65: EMCC (18-5) rallied to defeat Pearl River as Jacolby Mobley scored 25 while Devon Ester added 13. Quintarius Porter led the Wildcats (16-7) with 17.

Gulf Coast 108 Northwest 97: Tony Bridges scored 31 and Roger Woods added 25 to lead Mississippi Gulf Coast (19-5). Rashon Coleman led the Rangers (12-10)with 16 while Dajo Reno added 14 in the loss.
