By NEMS Daily Journal

Mississippi State is celebrating the start of formal preseason basketball drills with several events today.
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. on Main Street with Pumpkinpalooza, an annual event that will include a pep rally and a speech by MSU athletics director Scott Stricklin. At 7 p.m., both the soccer and volleyball teams host matches.
The women’s basketball team will take the Humphrey Coliseum floor around 8:30 p.m., with the men to follow shortly before 9. The Bulldogs will hold a 20-minute scrimmage, having already had a closed practice earlier in the day.
All Maroon Madness events are free to the public.
