Memphis Tigers rally in ninth inning to knock off Southern Miss

MEMPHIS – Memphis scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a throwing error by Isaac Rodriguez to lift the Tigers to a 6-5 decision over Southern Miss on Friday.
The Golden Eagles (22-7, 5-2 C-USA) lost their second straight game and ruined a four-run rally in the eighth for the visitors.
T.J. Rich led the Tigers with four hits, while Rodriguez added a pair of hits for the Golden Eagles including a solo homer, his second of the year.
The Tigers (18-11, 2-2) pushed their win streak to five games.
USM pitcher Collin Cargill (3-2) took the loss, while Memphis closer Ben Paullus (2-0) earned the victory.
The two teams continue the series today at 2 p.m.
