MetroCast to carry MSU game, reaches deal with network

Mississippi State fans in the region won’t necessarily need satellite television to watch Mississippi State’s football game at Houston tonight.
The game, which kicks off at 7, is being televised by CBS College Sports, which is channel 613 on DirecTV and channel 152 on Dish Network. Most local cable companies, including Comcast and Cable One, do not carry the channel. Comcast serves Tupelo.
MetroCast, which serves Starkville, Amory, Booneville, Pontotoc, and several other Northeast Mississippi communities, has reached an agreement with CBS College Sports to carry the network’s programming, and the game will be available on MetroCast channel 16.
Starting Nov. 13, CBS College Sports will be permanently available to MetroCast customers on channel 165.
Local CBS affiliate WCBI will not carry the game on any of its channels. A spokesman said the station does not have the option of broadcasting that game.
