Biggersville Lions
Opening Game: 2:30 p.m., today vs. West Lincoln
Coach: Cliff Little
Record: 26-8
Players to watch: Daniel Simmons, Emmanuel Simmons, Jaylon Gaines
Notes: Biggersville lost all five starters from last year’s Class 1A state runner-up. … Today is also the 6th birthday of Biggersville coach Cliff Little’s daughter, Lainey, whose middle name is Jackson, named after the site of the championships. … Little led East Wesbster to the 2008 Class 1A state title.

Class 2A
Baldwyn Bearcats
Opening Game: 8 p.m., today vs. Williams-Sullivan
Coach: Jason McKay
Record: 29-3
Players to watch: Tevin Lindsey, Duke Upshaw, Martell Brown, Conner McKay
Notes: Baldwyn lost in the Class 2A finals last season to Marshall, the team it beat in this year’s North semifinals. … The Bearcats lost a starter for the second straight season, PG Dee Gates to a torn ACL on Dec. 8. … Baldwyn’s opponent, Williams-Sullivan had to win an appeal to make the playoffs after a ban in January due to actions of its former coach.

Class 3A
Booneville Blue Devils
Opening Game: 8 p.m, Saturday vs. Forest
Coach: Michael Smith
Record: 27-5
Players to watch: Kenny Paul Geno, Jack Nichols, Jordan Miller, Daryl Barefield
Notes: The Blue Devils, making third straight appearance in Jackson, won it all two years ago. … Booneville beat Forest in the 2011 state semifinals. … One of Booneville’s losses to graduation was guard Keldrick Lesley, the Journal Player of the Year.

Class 4A
Corinth Warriors
Opening Game: 8 p.m. Monday, vs. Laurel
Coach: Keith Greene
Record: 26-7
Players to watch: Raheem Sorrell, Antares Gwyn, Jose Contrares, Terrel Payton
Notes: Corinth is looking for its sixth state championship. … This is the third meeting between Corinth and Laurel in the state tournament. … Corinth coach Keith Greene has coached the Warriors for 16 seasons, the last eight as head coach.
