Miss. State falls to Alabama in SEC Softball Tourney

OXFORD – Top-seeded Alabama handcuffed Mississippi State in the SEC tournament opener for both teams, winning 5-1 to advance to the semifinals.
Senior Kelsi Dunne (24-3) allowed one run on two hits and struck out 10 for Alabama (46-7) which plays Georgia today at 4:30 p.m.
Mississippi State (24-32) led 1-0 on an RBI single in the third inning by catcher Sam Lenahan before suffering the season-ending loss.
Other Friday scores: Georgia 9, LSU 0; Auburn 6, third-ranked Florida 2; Tennessee 4, Kentucky 1.
Auburn and Tennessee play today at 2 p.m.
