Mississippi State softball off to 7-1 start to season

The Mississippi State softball team improved to 7-1 with a pair of wins Sunday to complete the Bulldog Round-Robin.
MSU avenged its Friday loss by beating Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 5-0, then beat Mississippi Valley State 3-2.
Junior lefty Kylie Vry tossed her team’s first shutout of the season in the first game. She struck out 10 and walked one.
Senior Brittany Bell went 3 for 5 on Sunday with two RBIs, two runs, a home run, triple and a double.
Split for Rebels: Ole Miss (4-3) split a pair of games on Sunday, beating Belmont 9-1 in five innings, then losing 11-6 to Murray State. The Rebels totaled 20 hits, including six by senior Kendall Bruning, who hit her first career home run and also pitched a complete game victory in the opener.
