STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — The excitement of the approaching college football season was much in evidence Saturday as Mississippi State University students lined up to buy tickets for the upcoming season.
WTVA reports there were long lines on Student Football Ticket Day as Mississippi State students bought tickets to home games on the Starkville campus.
The tickets are for seating in the student section and were sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mississippi State’s Bulldogs open the season on the road Aug. 31 against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
The team’s first home game is at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 against the Alcorn State University Braves.
The Bulldogs begin Southeastern Conference play on Sept. 14 against the Auburn Tigers at Auburn.
On Saturday, students said the anticipation of the opening of the season was worse than the wait for tickets.
The students told us they didn’t mind waiting for their tickets as the season is almost here.
“A couple of years ago people would camp out for them but they did away with that,” said Caleb Moreau.
“We got pretty good seats. The student section, we’re allowed to sit in any part of it, so it’s not assigned seats,” said Emily Pogue.
