Mississippi Valley State hires new athletics director

ITTA BENA (AP) – Dianthia Ford-Kee is the new athletics director at Mississippi Valley State.

Ford-Kee replaces Lee Smith, who has been interim athletics director for the past five months.

The school announced the hiring of Ford-Kee this week.

Ford-Kee succeeds Ashley Robinson who left in June after less than a year on the job. He is now athletics director at Prairie View A&M.

Ford-Kee previously served five years as director of athletics at Lincoln University in southeastern Pennsylvania. She went to Lincoln from Shaw University, where she spent 18 years working in athletic administration and coaching.

She played basketball and softball at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. She is a member of the school’s athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.

Ford-Kee coached volleyball and softball at Shaw before becoming associate athletic director.
