Mitchell on mound as MSU visits Memphis

By NEMS Daily Journal

It’s been a month since pitcher Evan Mitchell started a game, but he’ll get the nod tonight when No. 16 Mississippi State visits Memphis at 6:30 at AutoZone Park.
Mitchell (0-1, 4.12 ERA), a senior right-hander, last pitched on March 23 at Kentucky, failing to record an out before being pulled from the game – and from weekend starting rotation.
MSU (32-10) is coming off a 2-1 series win over Auburn. Memphis (25-16) is 6-1 against SEC teams this year, with two wins over Ole Miss. The Tigers will send left-hander Michael Willis (3-2, 1.96) to the mound tonight.
