More weather worries may scramble soccer semifinals

It appears likely that at least some of the high school state semifinal soccer matches set for Tuesday will be delayed by weather.
There’s a strong chance of rain on Tuesday, so some area coaches – including Pontotoc girls coach Marty Pettit – are making backup plans.
“We’re tentatively set to play Newton County at home on Tuesday at 6 p.m., but we’ve already talked about the possibility that the game will need to be postponed,” Pettit said on Sunday.
The alternate day for the game with Newton County is Thursday. “It’ll be cooler, but at least the field will have time to dry,” Pettit said.
The Corinth boys decided to get a head start on their 1A/2A/3A home match against Madison St. Joe, which will be played today at 5 p.m.
