MSU basketball hosts Jackson State today

8TB6_MSU_primary_logoSTARKVILLE – Mississippi State returned home “humbled” according to head coach Rick Ray following an 87-68 defeat by Utah State in its first road action of the year.

The Bulldogs (3-1) have an opportunity to get back on the winning track today hosting Jackson State (2-4) at 1 p.m.

Today marks the fifth-ever meeting between the Magnolia State schools on the hardwood with MSU claiming all four previous outings. The Bulldogs last defeated JSU 81-67 in the opening round of the 2010 NIT.

Mississippi State enters the contest shooting 46.8-percent from the field and averaging 77.8 points per game. Sophomore center Gavin Ware has claimed a double-double in three of the Bulldogs first four games leading the team with 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds.
