MSU freshman Sanders gets NCAA clearance

Freshman wide receiver Ricco Sanders has been academically cleared by the NCAA and will hit the ground running for Mississippi State.
The speedy Sanders, from Duncan, S.C., is the last of MSU’s highly ranked freshman signing class to receive clearance. Fall term begins Monday.
Sanders (5-foot-11, 175 pounds) joined the Bulldogs for practice Friday. He is not allowed to wear pads during an NCAA-mandated five-day acclimation period.
Sanders is expected to vie for playing time right away at a position that’s seeking depth and more speed than it had last year.
“He’s going to have a lot thrown at him immediately,” coach Dan Mullen said Tuesday.
