MOBILE – Mississippi State senior Alex Rowland claimed a share of the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate championship on Tuesday.
Rowland, a native of Houston who also played at Itawamba CC, posted a career-best score of 4-under 212.
He is the first MSU player since 2009 to claim an individual championship.
“I’m really excited about the win,” Rowland said. “I felt like I put three solid rounds together and had a few up-and-downs toward the end to keep me going. I didn’t have my best day putting, but I had a good day tee-to-green.”
Rowland helped the Bulldogs capture their sixth-consecutive top 10 finish.
MSU sophomore Chad Ramey (Fulton, Itawamba CC) finished 15th with a 1-over 217.
