MSU men, Ole Miss women open regionls with wins

The Mississippi State men and Ole Miss women opened NCAA tennis regional play on their home courts on Friday with easy victories. The Ole Miss men will get started today in Oxford.
In Starkville, ninth-ranked MSU (20-6) defeated Alcorn State 4-0 and will play No. 25 Baylor today at 10 a.m. Baylor defeated Memphis 4-2 on Friday.
“Baylor is going to be a tough opponent so we will really have to work hard,” said Bulldogs coach Per Nillsson.
In Oxford, the Ole Miss women defeated Southern 4-0 and will face Rice this afternoon, no earlier than 3 p.m.
Rice surprised No. 18 Illinois 4-3 on Friday for the program’s first NCAA tournament victory.
The No. 13 Ole Miss men take the court today at noon in a first-round matchup against Binghamton. Middle Tennessee and Michigan will play at 9 a.m.
Regional winners will advance to the NCAA’s Round of 16.
