Mississippi State players Pernell McPhee, Derek Sherrod and K.J. Wright and Ole Miss player Jerrell Powe have been invited to participate in the Senior Bowl Jan. 29 in Mobile, according to ESPN blogger Chris Low.
Schools did not confirm the invitations, nor are the four players listed on the partial list of invitees on the bowl’s website.
McPhee, a defensive end, made 35 tackles, 10.0 tackles-for-loss and 2.0 sacks this season, and his 12 quarterback hurries led the team.
Wright, a linebacker, was second on the team with 98 tackles, and he also had 8.0 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 sacks and a team-high nine pass break-ups.
Sherrod, a third-year starter at left tackle, has made several All-American teams this year and helped power the SEC’s second-best rushing attack (214.8 yards per game).
Powe announced in early December that he would forego his final season at Ole Miss and enter the NFL draft.
He was second-team All-SEC, finishing with 27 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
The Senior Bowl gives players an opportunity to work out for a week in front of NFL scouts.
