MSU opener at Memphis officially set for Sept. 1

By NEMS Daily Journal

It’s now official: Memphis announced on Thursday that it will face Mississippi State on Thursday, Sept. 1, to open the 2011 football season.
The Conference USA office confirmed the move from Sept. 3, which was the originally scheduled date. The teams had been discussing the move for a while.
A kickoff time has not been set for the game, which will be broadcast on one of Fox’s networks.
MSU leads the series with Memphis, 32-11. State won last year’s meeting in Starkville, 49-7. This will be the Bulldogs’ first trip to Memphis in nine years.
