STARKVILLE – Mississippi State suffered its first casualty of the fall, as wide receiver Shelby Christy has been lost for the season.
Coach Dan Mullen confirmed Friday that the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder from Geismar, Louisiana, tore the ACL in his right knee and will not play this season.
“He just planted on his foot, and the knee just kind of gave way, so he’s going to be out for the season,” Mullen said.
Christy redshirted his initial season in Starkville in 2013 after signing as a three-star prospect. He caught 39 passes for 663 yards and five touchdowns during his senior season at Dutchtown High School.
