MSU relays, Bougard pick up Texas victories

AUSTIN, Texas – The Mississippi State track team wrapped up a fine outing at the 86th Texas Relays as the men’s 4×400 relay team shaved
three seconds off its qualifying speed on the way victory on Saturday.
The foursome of Tavaris Tate (Starkville), Brandon McBride, Daundre Barnaby and Randy Patterson won in 3:05.35.
On Friday, MSU’s 1600-meter sprint medley team – Tate, Scottie Hearns,
Barnaby and McBride – won in 3:18.09.
NCAA indoor pentathlon champ Erica Bougard won the heptathlon title on Thursday.
Also Saturday, MSU’s Marcus Jackson finished second in the men’s high
jump (7-5.25) behind 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Derek Drouin of Indiana.
