COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mississippi State lost 4-2 to No. 14 Texas A&M on Sunday, spoiling the Bulldogs’ hopes of earning the 10th and final berth in the SEC softball tournament.
MSU junior Heidi Shape gave her team a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning with a bases loaded, two-out single, but A&M responded with a three-run homer from All-American Mel Dumezich in the bottom of the sixth.
Dumezich (26-6) also picked up the victory.
The Bulldogs (32-21, 8-16) close the regular season today at Houston, then await NCAA tourney selections on May 12.
