Mississippi State will be hooping it up downtown next week.
The second annual Maroon Madness will be held Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. in downtown Starkville. The event features the MSU men’s and women’s basketball teams and symbolically tips off their preseason practices.
A court will be constructed on the east end of Main Street, in front of Sullivan’s Office Supply, and the Bulldogs will use that court for a dunk contest and 3-point shooting contest. There will also be an autograph session, and each team will unveil new uniforms.
Maroon Madness is being held in conjunction with Pumpkinpalooza, the city’s fall festival.
Both MSU teams have new coaches this season, with Rick Ray leading the men and Vic Schaefer taking over the women.
