STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State women’s basketball team wraps non-conference play with two games in as many days at Humphrey Coliseum. The Bulldogs hosts Northwestern State at 7 p.m. today, then Troy in a 7 p.m. tip on Saturday.
“You have to play back-to-back days in the SEC Tournament. It’s the way the schedule worked out for us, and it’s what we have to do,” coach Vic Schaefer said. “Back-to-back games will be a challenge for us after having four days off. We’re still getting back into game shape, and a lot of kids will have to play.”
The Bulldogs (6-5) are on a three-game win streak and play their first game since a 69-54 win over Jacksonville State on Dec. 20.
Mississippi State is 6-1 at home and has won five in a row at home Humphrey Coliseum.
Sophomore Shamia Robinson sparked the Bulldogs’ win against Jacksonville State, compiling her first double-double with a career-best 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
Mississippi State has won both previous games against Northwestern State (4-5).
The Bulldogs hold a 10-2 edge against Troy (3-8) with all 10 victories coming in Starkville.
