C.T. Bradford will make his second career start for Mississippi State today when Penn State visits Dudy Noble Field. The Bulldogs (10-2) and Nittany Lions (2-6) will start at 6:30 p.m.
Bradford, a sophomore left-hander who normally starts in center field, is making his first mound appearance of 2012. Last year, he made seven appearances and recorded a 9.72 ERA in 8 1/3 innings.
State entered the national rankings Monday for the first time this season, checking in at No. 23 in the Baseball America poll. They finished last season No. 17 in that poll.
MSU and PSU will also meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. State coach John Cohen isn’t sure yet who he’ll pitch, but he has plans over these next two games to get innings for Will Cox, Luis Pollorena and Brandon Woodruff, among others.
Cohen said Monday that sophomore righty Ben Bracewell, MSU’s normal Friday night starter, is being evaluated after experiencing soreness in his pitching elbow last week. Bracewell’s status for this weekend should be known by Wednesday, Cohen said.
