EUGENE, Ore. – Mississippi State sophomore Brandon McBride picked up his second NCAA title, winning the men’s 800 meters at the outdoor championships on Friday night.
McBride won in 1:46.26, the second-fastest time of his career. He held off Florida’s Ryan Schnulle, second in 1:46.29.
In March, McBride won the NCAA indoor 800 title. He’s undefeated at the distance this year.
“I knew coming in having already won the indoor title, it gave me some confidence, but it added pressure too,” he said. “It put a big target on my back.”
Kentucky’s Keffri Neal finished third in 1:46.39. McBride and Neal are both Canadians.
