NORMAN, Okla. – Ally McDonald and the Mississippi State women’s golf team continued their strong effort at the NCAA Central Regional in Friday’s second round.
McDonald, a sophomore from Fulton, shot a second consecutive 69 and was in second place at 6-under, while her MSU team was tied for sixth place.
The top eight teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships and the Bulldogs have never advanced as a team.
“An exceptional spot to be in,” said MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm. “We did a great job.”
McDonald (69-69–138) is just a stroke behind leader Emily Collins (67-70–137) of Oklahoma. Despite a wet course, she had four birdies against one bogey for a second day.
Mississippi State (292-299–591) is at 11 over. Oklahoma (283–286–569) is in the lead.
Today’s third and final round tees off at 7:30 a.m.
