MSU’s Stratton to make pro debut today in Oregon

By NEMS Daily Journal

Former Mississippi State pitcher Chris Stratton will make his professional debut tonight for the Salem-Keizer (Ore.) Volcanoes, a Class A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.
Game time is 7:05 p.m. Central.
Stratton, who was drafted 20th overall by the Giants, will face Northwest League rival Yakima (Wash.). It will be the Tupelo native’s first outing since the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, which was his final game in a Bulldog uniform.
Stratton went 11-2 with an SEC-leading 2.38 ERA this year, earning SEC pitcher of the year honors as a junior after struggling through his sophomore season at MSU that saw him end the season in the bullpen. But the Tupelo native bounced back in the Cape Code League between his sophomore and junior seasons.
