STARKVILLE – Mississippi State senior Wendy Copeland was named an indoor track and field All-American by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday. The Tupelo native is only the fourth Lady Bulldog to receive this honor.

Copeland earned this accolade after competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 12. She finished in 16th place after jumping 19 feet, 10 ¾ inches. However, she jumped 20-9 ¼ earlier in the season to move to second all-time in MSU history.

Throughout her indoor career at MSU, Copeland has been a mainstay as a top long jumper. She has earned All-SEC honors through top performances at the SEC Indoor Championships.

Copeland and the State men’s and women’s track team begin the 2010 outdoor season Saturday and the Rhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.
