Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has signed Beau Cummings from Myrtle High School to join the Northeast baseball program for the 2010-11 season.

Cummings, who plays for former Northeast baseball player Robert Gordon at Myrtle, excels not only on the diamond but the hardwood as well for the Hawks.

A New Albany native, Cummings, batted .411 as a junior and has increased his average almost 70 points his senior year.

Currently, the Myrtle senior is batting .476 and is perfect on the mound for the Hawks.

Cummings sports a 2-0 record for Myrtle and has a sub-one earn run average (0.98).

When not pitching, Cummings also clocks time in the outfield.

Cummings rarely steps off the diamond and has a veteran of both the Cotton States Baseball League in New Albany as well as the Mississippi Select Baseball League’s Northwest Mississippi Dealers that play during the fall.

Cummings, a 6-4, 185-pound athlete, was named to the all-division team for baseball as well as basketball and garnered an all-state selection for his prowess on the hardwood.
