New Albany girls hoops team among USA Today’s Top 25 teams

NEW ALBANY – Off to a 5-0 start this season, the New Albany girls basketball team is ranked No. 22 in the country by USA Today.
The nation-wide newspaper published its first top 25 rankings of the 2010-11 season in Wednesday’s edition. The first regular-season rankings will be released on Dec. 8.
The Lady Bulldogs, who went 32-1 last year and lost in the MHSAA Class 4A state semifinals, are ranked ninth in the South by USA Today. Potters House Christian (Jacksonville, Fla.) is the top-ranked team in the South region.
As far as other schools close to Northeast Mississippi, Hoover, Ala., is ranked fourth in the South, followed by Memphis Central.
Mater Dei of Santa Ana, Calif., is the country’s top-ranked team overall.
