PONTOTOC – With an 8-0 start to the 2010-11 season, the New Albany girls basketball team moved up a spot to No. 21 in USA Today’s Super 25 national rankings.
The Lady Bulldogs were ranked 21st in the first rankings released by USA Today this season. The New Albany team also moved up two spots to No. 7 in the South by the nation-wide newspaper.
“These seniors – I got eight of them – they’ve been starting since they were freshmen and they just know how to play,” New Albany head coach John Stroud said after beating Pontotoc 74-44 on Tuesday evening. “You throw the four seniors and put (sophomore Jazmine) Spears out there with them, it’s just a good five.
“So, I’m enjoying it.”
The next rankings come out Dec. 15.
