The Nkemdiche brothers, football players at Ole Miss, are part of a $2 million civil lawsuit alleging that they assaulted a person at a 2013 fraternity party in Oxford.

According to a complaint filed on Friday in Lafayette County, Matthew Baird was assaulted by Denzel Nkemdiche and five other unidentified Ole Miss football players, along with his brother, Robert, who was still a high school student.

The alleged incident rook place at the Kappa Alpha fraternity house.

The Nkemdiche brothers, according to reports, have been sued for battery, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Ole Miss defended the brothers in a statement given to Fox Sports on Tuesday:

“The proper authorities investigated the matter and could find no evidence of wrong-doing related to Denzel and Robert Nkemdiche or any other members of our football program.

“This is a personal matter for them and we will support Denzel and Robert while they defend themselves in this civil case.”

Denzel Nkemdiche was suspended from the team on Monday after a weekend arrest for disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
