Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen still hasn’t decided if tailback Anthony Dixon will play in Saturday’s season opener against Jackson State.
Dixon, who was arrested for a DUI in July and pleaded guilty last month, has been serving undisclosed team discipline since the incident. Mullen was asked after Tuesday’s practice why a decision on Dixon’s game day status hasn’t been made yet.
“We’ve made a lot of decisions on Anthony,” Mullen said. “There’s a lot of other things going on with it. Playing a game is not the (only) discipline involved in it. We have a list of about 12 different things that we’re handling internally, and we’ll handle it.”
Whether or not Dixon plays, Mullen plans to give heavy minutes to fellow seniors Christian Ducré and Arnil Stallworth. He added that sophomore Robert Elliott, who missed most of last season with a knee injury, might play.
