North Mississippi teams atop Clarion-Ledger’s rankings

The top four teams in the Clarion Ledger’s preseason high school football rankings, published Sunday, are all from North Mississippi: South Panola, Lafayette, West Point and Olive Branch.
Tupelo will play three of those teams this season, starting with a home game against Lafayette on Friday. The Golden Wave visits South
Panola on Oct. 14 and closes the regular season at home against Olive Branch on Nov. 4.
Top-ranked teams by class: South Panola (6A), West Point (5A), Lafayette (4A), Aberdeen (3A), West Bolivar (2A, followed by Calhoun City at No. 2) and Durant (1A).
