Northeast baseball pushes season opener back a day

BOONEVILLE – Northeast Mississippi Community College head baseball coach Kent Farris has announced that the Tigers will have to wait a day to open their 2012 season.

Due to inclement weather in the northeast Mississippi area, Northeast has had to postpone its season-opening doubleheader against Wallace State (Ala.)-Hanceville.

Originally, the Tigers were set to host the Lions on Valentine’s Day (February 14) but due to the weather, that season opener has been pushed back a day to allow for better conditions.

Now, Farris and his club will open their 2012 season on Wednesday, February 15 against Wallace State (Ala.)-Hanceville. First pitch is set for noon at Harold T. White Field at Booneville City Park.
