BOONEVILLE – Northeast Mississippi Community Colleges baseball program has signed Ben Foster to their 2013-14 recruiting class at a signing ceremony on Thursday, May 16 in New Albany.

Foster is an infielder that will look to replace some talent that was lost to graduation by the Tigers.

“I am really excited and they want me to play either second or third and maybe pitch a little bit so I hope to help out in those areas,” said Foster.

Foster had a .368 batting average during his senior season with an on-base percentage of .531 while racking up 29 hits, 14 runs batted in and 26 runs.

From the mound, Foster had an earned run average of 2.77.

“I am excited that he (Ben) is getting to play at the next level and we have known for a while that Ben would be the type of player that will get to continue his career past high school,” said New Albany head baseball coach John Walker.

“We are grateful to the Northeast coaches for now making that possible,” said Walker.

“We are excited to have Ben join the Tiger Family,” head coach Kent Farris added. “His older brother Brock was an outstanding player who contributed to our success while he was here and we are sure that Ben will only add to that contribution. Anytime we can get an in district player from such a fine family is a plus for our program. We are thrilled to have another player from Coach Walker and New Albany High School.”
