Northeast, ICC both earn division sweeps at home

Guard Nick Tate hit a pair of game-winning free throws after a late steal, giving Northeast a come-from-behind 68-66 win over visiting Holmes Thursday night.
Tate’s late heroics sealed Northeast’s comeback from a 42-34 halftime deficit and helped the Tigers even their MACJC North Division record at 3-3. Tyrie Berry led Northeast with 18.
Al’Lisha Hudson scored 21 to lead Northeast’s Lady Tigers to a 65-52 win in the opener.
In Fulton, Vincenzo Nelson connected on go-ahead dunk with 2:31 to go, giving ICC the momentum it needed for a 76-66 win over Coahoma. Nelson scored 16 to lead the Indians, who now stand at 5-2 in division play.
In the opener, six Lady Indians reached double digits as ICC rolled Coahoma by a score of 100-42 Lori Crudup and Tiffany Pierce each had 14 to lead ICC.
