BOONEVILLE – Northeast Mississippi Community College freshman pitcher Jaisa Fox of Cincinnati, Ohio has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Pitcher of the Week.
Fox, a 5-7 right-hander, threw a perfect game in her only appearance for the Lady Tigers during the week of April 16-22 to earn the honor.
Fox made the most of her time on the mound against Mississippi Delta Community College on Thursday, April 19 as the Lady Tigers celebrated their third-annual StrikeOut Cancer Day.
Pitching to just 15 batters in the perfect game, Fox struck out 12 and accounted for two of the other three outs on grounders back to the Lady Tiger freshman.
Fox tossed just 61 pitches against the Lady Trojans with 48 going for strikes. Against the 15 batters she faced, the Northeast freshman fired a strike on the first pitch to 11 Mississippi Delta batters.
After a pair of groundouts in the first inning, Mississippi Delta only put one ball in play during the final four innings of the contest – a Terri Warren grounder back to Fox for the final out of the third inning.
However, Fox was not done.
On the day, Fox was 2-for-5 at the plate with five RBI and a double as the Lady Tigers knocked off Mississippi Delta 9-0 in a perfect game and 21-0 in a no-hitter by freshman pitcher Erin Dixson (Amherst, New York).
During the 2011-12 season, Fox has also been a dual threat for the Lady Tiger softballteam.
On the mound, Fox is 12-8 while appearing in 23 games for Northeast. Fox has pitched 116 innings while limiting the opposition to 84 hits and 41 runs – 32 of which were earned.

Fox averages 7.7 strikeouts a game and has faced 473 batters on the year while piecing together a 1.93 earn run average.
At the plate, Fox’s hitting .352 with 32 hits in 91 at bats with 10 doubles, 20 RBI and has scored 16 runs. In her 109 plate appearances on the year, Fox has only struck out twice while drawing 15 walks and has an on-base percentage of .443 and a slugging percentage of .462.
